Remote Camera Cables
Using a remote camera lets you explore creativity and expand photographic coverage in unique ways. On location, remote cameras can be where you physically can't. Get shots no one else can by firing a remote camera at the same time you fire your main body. Two images, two perspectives, one photographer! In the studio, get out from behind the lens and really connect with your subjects. You will need a remote camera cable for your remote camera. If you are planning to trigger a remote camera from a handheld camera, you will need remote camera cables on BOTH cameras. Please see our Remote Camera Triggering page for details about setup.
The multi/micro USB port of Sony's cameras (sometimes called multi-terminal, multi-interface, multiport, or VPR1) connection can be used to trigger the camera, supply power to the camera, and power on and off the camera. We have created 3 cables to connect Sony's cameras to PocketWizard radios that support different remote functions. The RM-S1AM port of Sony's cameras can be used to trigger the camera. The RS-1AM is the same connection as the RC-1000 port for Minolta's cameras.
Note: Due to the specialized connection, not all functions are available with all PocketWizard radios. Please see compatibility for each product below the description.
These cables are all special remote camera cables called pre-trigger cables. A pre-trigger cable controls both the half-press and full-press function of your remote camera’s shutter release. When a camera is “pre-triggered”, it is like holding your camera’s shutter release button in the half-pressed or metering / focusing position.
- Half-press function is available when using a Plus III as a transmitting radio and a Plus III or Plus IV radio as a receiving radio with Channels 17-32.
- Pre-trigger function is available when using a Plus III, MultiMAX, or MultiMAX II as a transmitting radio and a Plus III, MultiMAX, or MultiMAX II as a receiving radio with Channels 17-32.
These cables allow a compatible PocketWizard radio to independently control both half-press and full-press functions.

S-VPR1-ACC Remote Camera Cable
This is the standard remote camera triggering cable for Sony's cameras with the multi/micro USB port. Connect the 3.5mm miniphone to the receiving Pocketwizard's sync port and connect the multi/micro USB to the camera's remote cable port. This cable can be used with both the transmitting PocketWizard radio/camera and the remote PocketWizard radio/camera.
PocketWizard Compatibility:
- Plus III - Requires firmware 1.210 or higher
- MultiMAX - Original or MultiMAX II
Half-press and Pre Trigger Functions:
Half press function (which keeps the camera awake as long as you are half pressing the test button of the transmitting radio) is available when using a Plus III as a transmitting radio and a Plus III radio as a receiving radio with Channels 17-32. Pre-trigger function (which keeps the camera awake and half pressed constantly) is available when using a Plus III, MultiMAX, or MultiMAX II as a transmitting radio and a Plus III, MultiMAX, or MultiMAX II as a receiving radio with Channels 17-32.
Specifications: From 3.5mm (1/8”) stereo miniphone connection to the multi/micro USB port of Sony's cameras. Length: 3’ (91.5 cm)
13369-S Remote Camera Cable with Camera Power
This cable supports remotely triggering Sony's cameras with the multi/micro USB port and provides power to the camera when connected to an external USB power source. Connect the 3.5mm miniphone to the receiving Pocketwizard's sync port and connect the multi/micro USB to the camera's remote cable port. Connect the USB Type A to a USB power source if desired to provide power to the camera. This cable can only be used with the remote PocketWizard radio/camera.
PocketWizard Compatibility:
- Works with any PocketWizard radio
Half-press and Pre Trigger Functions:
Half press function is available when using a Plus III as a transmitting radio and a Plus III or Plus IV radio as a receiving radio with Channels 17-32. Pre-trigger function is available when using a Plus III, MultiMAX, or MultiMAX II as a transmitting radio and a Plus III, MultiMAX, or MultiMAX II as a receiving radio with Channels 17-32.
This cable will keep the camera constantly awake, whether or not there is a USB power source connected to the USB port.
Specifications: From 3.5mm (1/8”) stereo miniphone connection to the multi/micro USB port and USB power of Sony's cameras. Length: 3’ (91.5 cm)
S-RMS1AM-ACC Remote Camera Cable
This cable supports remotely triggering Sony's cameras with RM-S1AM remote ports or Minolta's cameras with RC-1000 remote ports. Connect the 3.5mm miniphone to the receiving Pocketwizard's sync port and connect the camera specific end of the cable to the camera's remote port.
PocketWizard Compatibility:
- Works with any PocketWizard radio. Older radios such as the Plus, Plus II, and MultiMAX with no -ACC port require the MSMM adapter
Specifications: From 3.5mm (1/8”) stereo miniphone connection to Sony's RM-S1AM port or Minolta's RC-1000 port. Length: 3’ (91.5 cm)

Flash Sync Cables
When using a remote flash, you can either trigger the flash through the hot shoe or a sync port on the flash.
PC cable
If the flash has a PC port, you can use our PC to miniphone cables. They are available in 3 lengths: PC1N (1' straight), PC3N (3' coiled), or PC5N (5' coiled).
Specifications: 1/8" (3.5mm) mono miniphone to locking PC male
HSFM3 cable
If the flash does not have a PC sync port, you can use our HSFM3 cable. This will trigger the flash through the hot shoe center pin and is specially designed to fit the longer flash hot shoes of Sony's cameras in addition to standard hot shoes. It will not provide TTL. NOTE: Will not work with flashes that cannot be triggered by the center pin, including most Sigma models and some Nissin models. Check with the manufacturer if you are unsure if your flash can be triggered via the center pin.
Specifications: 1/8" (3.5mm) mono miniphone to standard hot shoe female
